Harvest 2025

During harvest, one question kept coming up: how much longer could we wait?

After an almost perfect growing season, the rain arrived – just as we were ready to begin. Between sunshine and showers, we had to decide day by day, always keeping one eye on the weather forecast. Risk a little more ripeness, or pick now while the grapes were still healthy?

It was a harvest on the edge – rain, narrow picking windows, long days. In just three weeks, everything was brought in. We often spent more than twelve hours among the vines, from the first light of dawn until sunset. Hannes’ step counter rarely showed fewer than 15,000 steps.

We had never picked so much in so little time. And yet, there was great team spirit and good humour throughout. Everyone knew what to do – focused, motivated, and full of energy. A special thanks to our Monika, the “senior” of the house, who kept us going with her sandwiches at ten and prepared dinner for the cellar crew each evening.

On the busiest days, up to 20,000 kilos of grapes made their way into the cellar. But in the evenings, we always found time to sit down together – a glass, a blind tasting, a few words about the new vintage – and somehow the strength for the next day returned.

This year, our organic approach once again proved its worth. The vineyards stayed balanced, the vines strong – a small reminder that the extra care we put in over time truly makes a difference.

Things have since quieted down in the cellar. Most of the wines have finished fermenting and are beginning to show their character. The Pinot Noir looks promising, while the whites are shaping up fine and elegant. We’re curious to see how they’ll develop in the months ahead.

It was a short, intense harvest that pushed us to our limits – and one we won’t forget anytime soon.
